Self-contained cabins near Gladstone

One of our six room types is genuinely self-contained: the Deluxe Queen Cabin, with a stovetop, a microwave and a full-sized fridge. Here's exactly what that means before you book it.

"Self-contained" gets used loosely. Here it means one specific room: the Deluxe Queen Cabin, a light, freestanding cabin in the gardens about 20 minutes from the Gladstone CBD. It has a kitchenette with a stovetop and microwave, a full-sized fridge, two air-conditioners plus a ceiling fan, and its own ensuite.

It is also the room guests come back for. If you are staying more than a couple of nights — a project, a long weekend, a stretch of highway broken in half — being able to keep real food and cook a real meal changes the week.

The specifics

What's actually in the cabin

  • Stovetop and microwave — enough to cook properly, not just reheat.
  • A full-sized fridge — the difference between a bar fridge and a week's shopping.
  • Two air-conditioners and a ceiling fan — Central Queensland in February is not a one-unit proposition.
  • Ensuite bathroom with a hairdryer — guests mention the shower more than anything else.
  • One queen bed, sleeping two — the cabins are not a family room.
  • Flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, smoke alarms — and a quiet garden outlook rather than a car park.

What it isn't: a full kitchen. The fit-out is the stovetop, the microwave and the fridge — and washing is a coin laundry on the grounds rather than a machine in the room. Cots aren't available in any of our rooms. We'd rather you knew that now than discovered it at check-in.

Can I cook in it?

The honest version, room by room — because "kitchenette" on a booking site can mean a kettle.

Why it matters here

Especially at weekends

Our restaurant runs Monday to Friday and closes at weekends and on public holidays. If your stay covers a Saturday, the cabin's kitchenette stops being a nice extra and starts being the reason the weekend works — you can shop once and eat in.

The same logic applies to a long roster. There's more on that in long-stay and contractor accommodation, and a wider view of the area in where to stay near Gladstone.
